The Calm Kit is a collection of DIY activities designed to help children and adolescents manage stress, anxiety, and pain through mindfulness and sensory engagement. This kit includes hands-on, interactive items like a de-stress ball, flick-up beads, a galaxy jar, scented relaxation eye pillows, a pinwheel for breathing exercises, and gratitude notes. Each item is designed to help users focus on their breathing, manage muscle tension, distract from pain, or cultivate gratitude, ultimately fostering both mental and physical well-being. The kit encourages progressive muscle relaxation, deep breathing, and the practice of mindfulness to help youth develop healthy coping mechanisms.
The instructions also highlight the importance of seeking support from adults or healthcare professionals if stress, pain, or discomfort persist. The initiative emphasizes the importance of accessible stress-relief tools for young people and was funded through a Peace First mini-grant.
